TACLOBAN CITY — Over P28 million worth of funds is needed for the rehabilitation of a Japanese-sponsored flood control project in Ormoc City, a local Public Works official said.
Irwin L. Antonio, assistant district engineer at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Ormoc City, said urgent desilting is required in the flood mitigation project in the Anilao and Malbasang Rivers constructed in 1998 through a grant from the Japanese government.
The efficiency of the projects has been reduced by silt deposits and debris which have accumulated over time, Mr. Antonio said.
